The Future, Conan?

I haven't played a whole lot that I want to ramble on about this week; just a couple of hours of Puzzle Quest, a little bit of Hexic HD, and a bunch of GTA IV. I don't want to say a lot about the latter, partly because I'm just so sick of hearing about it in the press, and partly because I'm only maybe 15% into the game. Suffice it to say that it's a lot like III through San Andreas, but better--it's a lot of fun.

I thought I'd take this opportunity, then, to take a look into the future, all the way to the year 2000 (and 9). Thinking about the month of May, and the lack of any games I want to pick up releasing therein, I set my eyes to the beyond, and even beyond the beyond (not the shitty PSX RPG), to take stock of what's coming out over the horizon, and what of that I'm interested in.

A quick list:
Metal Gear Solid 4
Etrian Odyssey 2
Ninja Gaiden 2
Too Human
Fallout 3
Halo Wars
Resistance 2
Yakuza 2
MOON (little known DS game)
Mirror's Edge (that trailer looks incredible!)
Persona 4
FF and DQ remakes for the DS
Bionic Commando Re-Armed (the remake of the 8-bit)
Puzzle Quest: Galactrix (...come to Butthead....)

I guess that about covers it. Not all of those are sure buys, but they're definitely on my radar. So many games!

Hey Man, it's Salubrious!!! Nice blog, I'll definitely be checking back often to get your impressions on videogames, new and old.

I have been looking forward to the day I would be done with FFXI because of all the time it will free up for other games. Now the time is finally here!

I have a huge backlog dating back to 1999 on the Sega Dreamcast. I'll never catch up and frankly, I'm totally overwhelmed by the volume. I better start getting selective or I won't be playing anything to completion.

Lately I've been playing Mario Kart for the Wii and it is pretty fun. Yeah, I know, it's not cool for a grown man to play Wii but I don't really give a damn. I've read some reviews/opinions of people who say that winning in this new Kart game is based on luck as much as it is on skill. I can understand where that comment comes from but after over 3 hours of online racing, I'm still waiting to cash in on that luck for my first top 3 finish. Meh, maybe I'm just too old to keep up with the kids, who knows?

Hey man! Good to hear from you. And congrats again on freeing yourself from FFXI. I'm surprised to hear that Secksi is still playing, and last I heard so were Linliel and Eseuldor. I guess the point where enough is enough comes at different times for everyone.

I think what really precipitated it for me was no longer living the life of a bachelor, along with a feeling of just being done with the game after I got my 3rd 75. I was interested in playing BLU, but not grinding through the levels again.

Anyway man, do you still have Forza? lol. I haven't played it at all since that time we raced online. I keep meaning to go back and play more. It's a little known fact that I love racing games, but hardly ever play them. Some of my favorites:

Rage Racer (PSX)
R4 (PSX)
Gran Turismo
Gran Turismo 3

I played the demo of the new PSP Wipeout, and that was pretty cool.

A backlog dating back to 1999 and DC games? Guess I'm not the only one with problems finishing games!

Cool. I also have not been playing forza 2 much despite the fact that I love racing games. The Salubrious car never did materialize...

As for the DC, that was one of my favorite systems ever.
It was a truly great system that just got crushed under Sony's PS2 hype machine. I bought a load of games that I just never got around to playing. I'm still looking forward to titles like, MDK2, RE: Code Veronica, Shenmue, etc.

The arcade ports of Crazy Taxi and Hydrothunder were awesome too!

Hey Salubrious! It's me, Necovia. I escaped around the same time as Nascia and totally have been loving catching up with my offline games. Dreamcast was the bomb!

Hey Necovia! Good to see you again man. Send me a friend request if you are on xbox live. My GT is: Deathmetalgreg

By the way, does anyone know if it will be possible to get the MGS4 PS3 system bundle if you don't already have it preordered? I'm itching to get a PS3 but will wait if I can get the 80 Gb machine with MGS4.

Not sure about that bundle. From what I've heard the gun metal gray PS3 is going to be extremely rare and probably Japan only.

I would think the main bundle, though, should be available in large quantities everywhere. Too bad it has no PS2 backward compatibility. :/
