It was Metal Gear Solid 4 month, and I was further spurred on to pick up MGS3 Subsistence.
June also saw the release of Etrian Odyssey II, and I picked up another copy of Ico, having sold mine a long time ago. The box isn't pictured, because the American cover art is a tragedy.

Yeah, quality game releases are dwindling as they often do during the summmer months.
Oh well, this leaves more time for us to catch up on those older titles. Reading your blog reminds me of all the great PS2 games I have yet to address.
However, I can't keep my sights off some of those quality PS3 games I've been wanting to play such as Uncharted, Heavenly sword, and Ratchet. All of them are too short to justify spending $60 on so I will just have to be patient and wait for the price drops.
Actually, I'm surprised at how Resistance, one of the launch titles, is still being sold for full price. When the hell is Sony going to launch the first greatest hits for PS3?!!
Happy 4th of July!
Thanks, hope you have a good weekend.
I've come back to my hometown of Texarkana, AR for the holiday, and today I dropped into a GameStop and found some nice and rare games I can resell online for a nice profit. Got a couple to play, also!
I tell you, man, the PS2 will not die!
Hey man,
I got a free sample of Etrian II from the localization producer at Atlus and played it over the weekend. Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems just really grindy and lacking in story. The map thing is kinda interesting, I guess.
Nope, you're not missing anything. It's grindy and light on story by design. This game is all about planning and endurance for your runs into the dungeon to map it out and take on tougher FOEs and bosses, and you really have to just be in it for the journey as opposed to the destination.
It gets better as you get higher levels and start to flesh out your party with unique skills, but the core doesn't change at all.If you're not hooked by the 2nd floor, you never will be.
I'm currently stuck at an uber-cheap dragon boss in the post-game stuff in the first game.
Ok, change of subject....Who is the moron at Sony that decided to package standard AV cables with the PS3?! WTF?!! No high def gaming or movies with a machine built for HD. How lame. I had to go blow some extra money on a 10 ft. hdmi cable.
And, I finally picked up the xbox 360 version of Assassin's Creed ($30) from circuit city over the holiday. If I weren't a moderate achievment whore, I probably would of picked it up for the PS3...
yeah, man, Sony is dumb for not including at least component cables in the box. With all their talk of "true HD" gaming and shit. Stupid, stupid decision. But welcome to the fold! My PSN name is "Lonesteban", just like my XBLIVE name. This is Necovia by the way.
Nas,
I like the lethality of the game, and the immediate customizability, but it just seems a little dated. I'm all for stat-crunching and such to form great parties, and I like the "draw your own map" idea, but there doesn't seem to be enough information outside the game provided by Atlus (in the manual).
Agreed on EO. The manual is worthless. I hit up GameFAQs a couple of times just to get a clear breakdown of what some skills did, and other general info. I don't know why they couldn't give better info in the game or manual, but I guess FFXI trained me to get online for supplemental info.
And yeah, Sony are retards for including a lousy composite cable with what is ostensibly a tech behemoth. They should have included a headset, too. It's shameful how Microsoft of all people have made them look like idiots so far this generation.
I still need to add both of you to my PSN list. What's your handle, Greg? We could play some Metal Gear Online or Resistance sometime.
A guy I work with is going to let me borrow Ass Creed sometime; he's just finished it. I haven't decided what else I want to play next...
Sweet, thanks for your handles, I'll definitely add you guys. My PSN name is "PutridFlesh" and my xbox 360 name is "Deathmetalgreg."
Kinda the opposite of "Salubrious" huh?
Oh and LOL, you said "Ass Creed"...
Awesome, Sal. lol, I'll add you the next time I turn on my PS3.
